WEST BERGEN OFFERS WORKSHOP FOR

YOUNGSTERS ENTERING KINDERGARTEN

AUGUST 23 – 25, 2010

The West Bergen Center for Children and Youth has recently announced that it will sponsor a three-day workshop entitled Ready, Set, Kindergarten on August 23 – 25 from 10 to 11:45 a.m. at the Children’s Center offices, One Cherry Lane, Ramsey.  Designed to promote social and emotional competencies in pre-school aged children, the program is intended to better prepare children to enter kindergarten in the fall, 2010.

During the workshop, children will begin to develop the ability to: Listen to stories without interrupting; Pay attention for short periods of time to adult-directed tasks; Begin to share with others; Participate in group activities; Begin to follow rules; Begin to communicate feelings in words; Participate in other people’s games and other social skills.

The Center for Children and Youth provides counseling and psychiatric services for youngsters, 2-18 years of age.  Since its founding in 1990, more than 7,000 children and their parents have been served.  The Children’s Center is a division of West Bergen Mental Healthcare.
